The electrodes loaded in container are cross-fixed with high-strength nylon straps in all directions (back and forth, left and right), while at the bottom of the load the pallets is fixed with oblique wood wedge to prevent the pallets from moving.

The current density of graphite electrodes used in high-power and ultra-high power electric furnaces is significantly increased, resulting in the following problems:

(1) Due to the effects of thermal resistance and hot air flow, the electrode temperature increases, which increases the thermal expansion of the electrode and the joint, and the oxidation consumption of the electrode also increases R;

(2) The temperature difference between the center and the outer circle of the electrode increases, and the thermal stress caused by the temperature difference also increases accordingly, making the electrode prone to cracks and surface peeling;

(3) The increase in the power of the electric furnace leads to an increase in the electromagnetic force, causing violent vibration and an increase in the probability of electrode breakage.

Therefore, the physical and chemical properties of high-power and ultra-high power graphite electrodes must be better than those of normal power graphite electrodes, such as low resistivity, high density, high mechanical strength, small linear expansion coefficient, and excellent oxidation resistance and thermal shock resistance, in order to meet the requirements of high-power and ultra-high power electric furnaces.
